Summer hazy days Lookbook!

Well I'm wishing for the summer days to arrive and this rain to disappear. But in the mean time I have created a lazy hazy summer days outfit which I can't wait to buy.

Nail polishes galore!

I love my nail polishes even more so than make-up (and that is saying something) and I have a Cath Kidson wash bag full of nail polishes from natural shades to more of the vibrant colours. For May's challenge I am going to see how many colours or designs I can create from my nail polishes each week.

My collection of nail polishes (i'm still collecting more, going to need a bigger case):

The Pinks

The Purples

The Reds
The Greens

The Golds

The odds

So what is your favourite nail polish?

My first GlossyBox

I have heard about the Glossybox by harrods last month both from beauty bloggers and the stylist Magazine and I just had to get involved as I thought a little box full of goodies a month would be amazing.

April Glossybox
Due to the Easter bank holidays the box was a little late being delivered this month so it felt like i had to wait forever for my box. But when I got my dispatch email I was so excited I was counting down the hours (day) till it arrived at my desk.

This months box was all about being natural - the box itself was biodegradable and the goodies inside where all natural products. Inside the box it contained Neem Body Wash, a small sample of perfume Kai, Figs and Rouge lip balm, Inika organic eyeliner and Caudalie serum.

So far I have only used the eye liner and the Neem Body wash which smells divine and is very refreshing.

If you want to get your very own Glossybox its very simple to do and isn't to expensive each month (£12.95) a bargain.

Wet Weather - Look Book

Right, as we have had such horrible wet weather (nearly 3 months within a couple of days) I have created a lookbook practical for the weather we are currently having. I have also recently brought wellies as my feet kept getting wet when walking to and from the station and I hate having wet feet.

Big Spot Umbrella - New Look
Splash Miss Chic Standard Fit Wellies - New Look
Animal print Parka - New Look
Jacket (Black) - H&M

What have you been wearing in this horrible weather to keep dry?

Weekend Break!

Yesterday and Friday my boyfriend and I traveled to Buckingham to see some friends. As we are in England our travel plans where ruined by delayed trains (an regular occurrence in London). When we finally got to our seats was a quick train ride to Milton Keynes Central  (roundabout central).

We then traveled 25 minutes out of MK to a little village of Buckingham. By this point we were both starving and ready for a big glass of wine. Our friends made a gorgeous sweet and sour chicken and rice for our dinner which went down a treat (i'm looking forward to making it myself).

After 3 glasses (big glasses) of wine, half of my homemade marble cake nearly demolished we were already for our beds.

Saturday morning came round with a forecast change from dull to constant rain, (sob) but did give me a chance to wear my new wellies (ankle boots with a big pink bow). After a lovely glass of freshly squeezed orange juice and croissants (yum). When we were ready. We then  traveled 40 minutes outside of Buckingham to a lovely town. We enjoyed a lovely drink within the old pub whilst the rain tapped against the window.

As a belated 21st birthday present, they treated myself and my boyfriend to a lovely late lunch at Prezzo (the food was delicious) and I was thoroughly spoiled with a three course meal and a nice bottle of champagne.

Even though I was away for two days, I came home relaxed and now looking forward to our next visit in July. Where we will stay for the full weekend.

What have you done this weekend?

Revlon Lip Butters - Review

I've only just got round to doing this post, even though i brought them last month. But thought i'd test all 3 and give my verdict.

I first heard about the 'up and coming' lip butters from other bloggers but couldn't get hold of them for a while as my Boots (Cheapside) hadn't stocked it yet (sob) each day I would check if it arrived but on lovely sunny afternoon (they seem a distant memory at the moment with our horrible weather) I stumbled across them and I was in luck as they were in 3 for 2 offer boots had on at the time (YAY). So I brought 3 shades that had caught my eye from previous posts from other bloggers:
1. Peach Parfit
2.Berry Smoothie
3. Macroon

I love how they just glide over the lips without leaving them sticky (something I really hate). I found the pigment for each shade really good especially 'Berry Smoothie' matches my skin tone perfectly as is warming but natural. I found that each shade lasted for about 3-4 hours and kept my lips moisturized.

The packaging makes the product look more expensive than it is, with its quilted casing which also matches the shade of the lip butter.

However I have found that when its gets hot (warm in a handbag) the lip butter starts to melt leaving the case messy and the lip butter soft.

Overall I really like the lip butter and will be buying more shades (only 14 here in the UK) but will have to keep them out of the heat.

You can buy them in Boots or Superdrug stores at £7.99.

What is you favourite Lip butter colour?

Barry M with 3D glitter nails!

As you can probably tell i'm having an evening of nails. I have now removed the skittle nails as they were all chipped (and I hate chipped nails) and decided to use the mint green pastel nail polish by Barry M.

However I thought it looked a little plain just all green and decided to use my new 3D nail polish from accessorize (a birthday present from my lovely friend) and only got round to wearing it now. To my surprise it covered well leaving enough pastel below to give my nail a two tone effect and they are very sparkly.

As the 3D nail polish is just being used as an single coat, it isn't giving much of an 3D effect but I am happy with what the results so will be buying more shades from accessorize within the next couple of weeks.

What is you favourite nail polish colour and make?

Barry M's Pastel Nails.

I am loving the pastel shades from Barry M and I couldn't decided which colour to wear over the weekend so decided to wear them all - resulting in Skittle Nails.

I found the Pink,Peach,Purple and Green coated better and need only two coats. However the blue needed more coats (3-4) as it was very watery and didn't cover as well as the other shades.

The pink shade coated well with one coat however I prefer two coats and it comes out as a bubblegum shade.

The Purple (violet) also coats well with just one but I prefer to do two coats or even three.

The Peach (orange) coats better with two rather than one and I love this shade its so summery and reminds me of sherbet that goes on top of ice cream (yummy).

The Green (mint) one coat makes it a very pastel shade and if you use two like I have in the picture above it reminds me of a mint green (exactly what is says on the bottle).

The Blue however was very disappointing and coated badly and the picture above needed three coats to make it match the other nails, however with one coat it was very blotchy and separated on the nail meaning it covered mainly the sides of my nail rather the main nail itself.

Overall I love the pastel shades from Barry M and skittle nails will be making another appearance throughout summer. I brought all of these shades from my local Boots store at £2.99 (such a bargain) but you also can buy these from any Superdrug store for the same price.

Old School Days!

Yesterday I was speaking to my Boyfriend's brother, who is currently sitting his first year of GCSE's (so young) and he was saying how he couldn't wait to leave and everyone (including myself) shouted NO at him. These were the best years, no money worries or work stress. The only worry was homework, preparing for exams and if the person you fancied, fancied you back.

Looking back now, school wasn't as bad as I thought it was then no pressure like now. But would I want to go back? The answer to that, No -Never. I love what I have now (even the money stress) and all those years at school have made me who I am today and I wouldn't want to change a thing.

But if I did get flashed back in time (reverse of 13 going on 30) I would go back to the age of 17, an horrible age for me.

If  you got flashed back in time, what age would you go back too?

Bad Hair Day!

'Limp and lifeless hair'. That ticks both boxes for me (sigh) Lately my hair has lost its traditional bounce, shine and has been replaced with limp dull sad looking locks.

I have it down to two things, a new shampoo and conditioner or to the fact that I've been stressed with work and not getting my regular  hours of sleep (the second is most likely).

so what shall I do? How do I get my hair back to how it was before? If you have any suggestions please leave a comment, I need all the help I can get.

April's Challenge!

If you have been following me on Twitter, you would have seen that I mentioned an April challenge.

Well from April to May payday I have set myself the challenge of not buying any new clothes, shoes or bags (sob). As I am trying to pay off my credit card and my holiday in August. So I am creating new outfits out of my old clothes that I either haven't worn in ages or forgotten I owned (which is most likely).

At the end of each working week (as weekends I live in my leggings and a big tops-unless i'm going out) I will post pictures of my outfit for you all to see.

Not only is my challenge of no shopping hard (sob), I am also trying to see how many new outfits I can make (without hopefully wearing the same items twice).

Wish me luck, only 3 more weekends till payday.

Spring Clean for that Summer Glow!

You may be like me and hating this horrible dull weather that we are having and longing for the summer days, so I am now getting ready for these days, where my skin will become sun kissed either naturally(I hope) or from a self-tanner (most likely).

So today I decided to write a quick post on two exfoliators I have been given. I got given this small pot of exfoliator back at Christmas when I got a hamper full of gorgeous goodies of Soap and Glory (a luxury I can’t live without but can afford. YAY) and this tub of body cream exfoliator by FCUK for my birthday.

I have unfortunately used up all the Soap and Glory Flake Away, but have brought another pot today – so just going on that you can probably tell I love this one. Its got a lovely smell to it but not so overpowering that leaves the skin sore from fragrance after being scrubbed.

The Shea butter within the body polish leaves the skin soothed as well as smooth.  The sea salt scrubs away any dead skin and leaves it feeling fresh and sugar (smaller grains) helps get into the pours and rid excess skin.

After using this for a week, my skin felt amazing, nice and smooth and refreshed and I couldn’t wait then to apply some self-tanner to brighten up my dull winter/spring skin.

As I used up all my soap and glory a couple of weeks ago I had to use my FCUK crème scrub to help keep my skin smooth. I have to admit this isn’t as good as the soap and glory and the granules aren’t as big as the sea salt and sugar, but the crème does leave the skin smooth but not as exfoliated as the other product, the smell is nice and not to over powering and is very similar to the FCUK shower crème which is lovely for everyday usage.  When using the FCUK I found I had to use less than the soap and glory as it spread further.

Both products come in round pots, the soap and glory being much smaller than the FCUK. The packaging for the flake away body polish is in keeping with all soap and glory products, so easy to identify. The FCUK product comes in a larger round pot with a screw cap lid just like the soap and glory, however has a deep purple lid, in keeping with FCUK seasons style and a clear tub so you can see the product inside.

Overall I found the soap and glory flake away the best exfoliator as left a noticeable difference with first use not like the FCUK where after a couple of usages a difference can be noticed. You can buy both products from your local boots store, I got the soap and glory flake away body polish comes in a small pot but the quantity inside is good meaning will last for a good couple of months depending on usage and size. I used about a walnut size for my legs and same again for the rest of the body as spreads well you can buy this for £7.

The FCUK crème is quite running so spreads well and less is more with this product as its more crème than exfoliate. Like I mentioned before I got this as a present so I don’t know the price but it would be no more than £7.

Have you got an exfoliator you swear by if so let me know

Beautiful Bags - DKNY

As you may know I love bags, if I could I would have a wardrobe like Carrie from Sex and the City for all my bags (oh and my clothes).

So for my 21st (I didn't get my wardrobe but got something even better) from my family I wanted to get a nice designer bag that I can keep forever and ever.

I started looking at bags weeks before my birthday, looking at different names such as Ted Baker, Lulu Guinness, Reiss, Mulberry, Radley, DKNY and Karen Millen.

The day after my birthday my mum and I hunt for then went on the for my bag. I had particular one in mind a tan leather shoulder bag by DKNY.

When I saw the bag, I was actually a little disappointed, don't get me wrong it was beauitful but the straps didn't fit my shoulder they kept falling down my arm, which was pointless.

I then tried every bag I could see but nothing caught my eye, till the shop assistant pointed me in the direction of a Blue leather DKNY satchel snuggled between two tan bags. The blue reminded me of summer skies and the gold details on the front and the DKNY chain glinting in the store light drew me in.

It was the complete opposite style I was looking for but I loved the shape and that in could be used with or without a strap for the shoulder.

What made it even better I got the matching purse as well, in the same beautiful leather.

I am now completely in love with DKNY bags and have seen buying mine seen many others I want and they have been added to the endless wish list of bags.

This bag, it the same bag used in the advert modeled by Ashley Green but in Creme not blue

Do you have a bag you love or a designer you swear by?

Green Thai Curry

This is one of my favourite dishes to make and eat and my boyfriend loves it too.

I first made this during a power cut, luckily I had lots of candles to cook by and it was a success and every since then this had been my favourite thing to make as it is so quick and easy and has loads of room for experiment.

So to make your very own Thai green curry - Jessie-Lou style you will need:

2-3 chicken breasts (depending on size and how many you are cooking for) chopped
1 onion - finely chopped
1 red pepper - diced or sliced
1 lime squeezed for the juice
1 can of coconut milk - reduced fat coconut milk always works really well
2 tsp - honey
3 tbsp - Thai green curry paste
1 chili - chopped, i added some seeds but not all depending on how spicy you like it
salt and pepper for seasoning

1. First prepare everything, my boyfriend always has a go at me as i never prepare properly and go steaming in and then panic when things go wrong.

2. Once all the ingredients are prepared, cook the dice chicken till it looked cooked all the way through.

3. Then add the onion, chili and pepper till it looks soft and brown.

4. Once onions are browning (not burnt) add half the lime juice and 1 tsp of honey into the pan and stir over the chicken.

5. Then add 1 tbsp of the curry paste and stir whilst adding some coconut milk.

6. Keep adding the curry paste and milk to the heat you like, then add the rest of the lime juice and honey (or add as much as you like to sweeten it)

7. Once everything is added and seasoned to taste, leave to simmer (not boil), usually about 20 minutes and stir continuously

8. Then prepare rice or noodles to serve with the curry, I use noodles as i'm not a fan of rice.

9. Dish up and serve with poppadoms or nan breads and enjoy.

Yummy
